Hello kfclabo60, I don't think you are missing a part. It may be that the cover tabs are worn and not locking into the bottom of the S spindle shaft assembly tightly. Try replacing the cover, that should take care of your problem. Question: Spool Failure tdrizd. The spool on this tool keeps falling off. From the parts diagram, I can't see any way the spool is locked on. What am I missing? Hello , Basically the only part holding the spool in the Black and Decker NST is part number cover.
It snaps into the SV spindle shaft assembly, in which the spool is in. We have a short video showing how to take this part off and on. It is not the exact model number of yours and the cover isn't the same part number but they both work the same way. Hope this helps, -WJA. Question: Replacing Spindle Shaft Assembly Hi Mark, Very helpful video online about this. Thanks for that.
I managed to get as far as getting it all open and nearly got the old spindle shaft removed. I can get the retaining ring and washer off the old one, but the bearing part won't come off the spindle shaft. It slides nearly to the top and then catches there. Any suggestions? It feels like it's not meant to come off, but it seems in the video to be easily removable. I didn't disconnect the motor, because it seemed like there's enough room to remove and replace the spindle shaft without doing that.
Hello , There may be a burr or some other type of obstruction on the end of the shaft that you can't see. If you have a small bearing puller, it could be used to pull the bearing off of the shaft. If you don't have one, you can often use sand paper to clean the shaft of the debris build up. Question: Grass Trimmer gpittman. There's a lever under the spool but its not spring loaded. Am I missing a spring?
Hello gpittman, The part number lever does not use a spring for it to operate correctly. It works off of centrifugal force, You may have a worn out or damaged lever.
You can replace if by simply pulling the old on out and, the new one should snap right in. Question: Squealing Sound Around Motor When I run my NST the motor sounds like it needs grease or oil. Hello , There is a bearing on top of the motor, part number , you miht want to put a few drops of oil around it and check the bottom of the motor also for a place to oil it.
